The ultimate anthology of Indian poetry from the Vedas to the present in all the major Indian languages These My Words is an anthology of magnificent breadth, ranging from Valmiki to Agha Shahid Ali, Aurobindo to Vikram Seth, Andal to Tagore, spanning Indian poetry in its myriad forms, styles and languages. The poems speak for themselves and to each other, as folk songs and tribal epics sit alongside classical Sanskrit and formal Tamil verse is a companion to contemporary Bengali or Dogri. There is Ghalib in praise of love, Tukaram on religious bigotry, Ksetrayya on divine love through the erotic, Gieve Patel on identity. In Eunice de Souza and Melanie Silgardo’s carefully curated selection, each poem illumines exquisitely the tradition of Indian poetry.

The World Survey of Islamic Manuscripts is a collective bibliographical work, which brings together the work of manuscript scholars, both Muslim and non-Muslim, from all corners of the world, in a rich collaboration to enhance our knowledge of the written heritage of the Islamic civilization. The Al-Furqan Survey seeks to fill the gaps left by previous bibliographies and similar works, and at the same time to bring together and update most of the information contained in them. The Survey aims to provide the reader with a guide to collections of Islamic manuscripts, details of access to these collections and their holdings, and also information about particularly significant manuscripts which they contain. The Al-Furqan Survey is the first ever attempt to account for all Islamic languages in over 90 countries of the world. It also seeks to provide detailed information for all holdings, thereby filling a lacuna for collections not as yet catalogued and even for many catalogued collections where the work has remained incomplete.

Firaq Gorakhpuri: The Poet of Pain & Esctasy

One of contemporary India’s most prolific Urdu poets, Firaq Gorakhpuri was well known for his ghazals, nazms, rubaais and qat’aa. His magnum opus, Gul-e-Naghma, won him the Jnanpith Award (1969), India’s first highest literary honour for literature. The other awards bestowed upon him include the Sahitya Akademi Award (1960), and the Ghalib Academy Award (1981). In this personalized biography, Firaq’s nephew, Ajai Mansingh, tells the compelling tale of the poet's life, inspiration, and struggles – shedding light on the trials and tribulations of one of India’s greatest literary figures. ‘Firaq is a poet of the labyrinths of emotions, the sensuousness and transcendence of beauty, and the merging shades of pain and ecstasy. The softness and suppleness of his voice does not have a parallel in Urdu poetry.’ — Gopi Chand Narang
