Twenty-first-century Western culture is characterized by profound transformations in its forms of collective organization. While traditional institutions of Western liberal democracies still wield significant political power, new forms of collective agency – most visible in progressive social protest movements, but also in the global rise of populism – have increasingly put pressure on established systems of collective organization. The contributors to this volume explore the social, political, and aesthetic forms that collective agency takes in the twenty-first century across a variety of media, including social platforms such as TikTok, multiplayer video games, and contemporary lyric poetry.
Critical Terms in Futures Studies
This volume provides the essential vocabulary currently employed in discourses on the future in 50 contributions by renowned scholars in their respective fields, which examine future imaginaries across cultures and time. Modern Indian Literature as Cosmopolis
This book redefines modern Indian literature from a cosmopolitan comparative perspective inclusive of literature in English from India and the diaspora, in native languages, and works by non-Indians. It shows how, since the mid-19th century, Indian literary modernity pursued the conjunction of the sensuous and ethical/spiritual that characterized its three traditions (Sanskritik, Persian, and folk culture) while the encounter, both receptive and oppositional, with “the West” vastly expanded the Indian literary sphere. Aesthetics and ethics are not antithetical in the Indian cultural space, but the quest for an exclusive Indian identity versus universalist approaches offsets concerns for social justice as well as enjoyable embodied communication. The literary constellation, in many languages, now formed in and around India can be better apprehended as a virtual Cosmopolis, a commonwealth of elaborate emotions. The versatile figure of Hanuman metaphorically flies across this Ocean of Stories to make us discover new worlds of experience.

The considerably large critical literature on Bollywood cinema is marked by an absence as it has not engaged fully with the ways in which songs lead to the memorial construction of films and how a spectator connects with films through their songs. The studies tended to deflect the emotional dimension of songs, their internal lyrical structure and their intertextual connections in favour of readings that treat songs as subsidiary to other formal elements. This is a filmography of not only all of the English-language movies made during the 1960s that had a theatrical release but major foreign films exhibited in the United States as well. The films are listed alphabetically and the following information is provided for each: year of release, nation of origin if other than the United States, production/distribution company, black and white notation (if not in color), running time, genre, production credits, cast and characters, and a brief synopsis. This turbulent decade is unusually interesting in the history of cinema. Those films released in the early part of the decade were similar to those of the 1950s, but as the years passed, the offerings changed in many ways.
Record of the Rust Family
Henry Rust (d.ca. 1684/1685) emigrated from Hingham, Norfolk County, England to Hingham, Massachusetts in about 1634/1635, and moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1645. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Kansas, Wisconsin and elsewhere. Includes some history of the Rust family in England and Germany to 1312, as well as other Rust individuals who immigrated to Pennsylvania from Germany and to Virginia and elsewhere in the south from England.
