Clement Bates was born in Lydd, Kent, England. Christened 22 January 1593/4. He married Anne Dalrumple in 1620 in England. Immigrated to Hingham, Ma. 6 April 1635. Died 1 October 1669 in Hingham, Ma. Also includes Kathrine Lee Bates, 1859-1929, author of the song "America The Beautiful". Descendants live in Massachusetts, Connecticutt, Vermont, Nebraska, Washington and elsewhere. Includes Rapp, Olney, Burt and related families.
War and Death in the Music of George Crumb
This book studies George Crumb’s The Winds of Destiny (2004) and Black Angels (1970) as artifacts of collective memory and cultural trauma. It situates these two pieces in Crumb’s output and unpacks the complex methodologies needed to understand these pieces as contributions and challenges to traditional narratives of the Civil War and the Vietnam War. Family Book of Remembrance and Genealogy, with Allied Lines
Jeremiah Meacham (1613/1614-1696) emigrated during or before 1650 from England to Southold, Long Island, New York, and married twice. Family tradition indicates he immigrated between 1630 and 1642 under an assumed name (possibly Weaver). Descendants and relatives lived throughout the United States. Joseph Mecham Sr. (1780-1845), a direct descendant in the sixth generation, married Sarah Basford, and they became Mormon converts. They moved from New Hampshire (via Ohio and Missouri) to Nauvoo, Illinois, where he died. His descendants and relatives lived in Utah, Idaho, Arizona, California and elsewhere. Includes much Mecham ancestry and genealogical data in England to about 1066 A.D., including various lines of nobility.
