Thomas Welles (ca. 1590-1660), son of Robert and Alice Welles, was born in Stourton, Whichford, Warwickshire, England, and died in Wethersfield, Connecticut. He married (1) Alice Tomes (b. before 1593), daughter of John Tomes and Ellen (Gunne) Phelps, 1615 in Long Marston, Gloucestershire. She was born in Long Marston, and died before 1646 in Hartford, Connecticut. They had eight children. He married (2) Elizabeth (Deming) Foote (ca. 1595-1683) ca. 1646. She was the widow of Nathaniel Foote and the sister of John Deming. She had seven children from her previous marriage.

Richard Champney was born about 1600 in England. He married Jane in England. They emigrated from England 1635 and settled in Massachu- setts. He died 1669 in Cambridge, Mass. They had eight children. Includes descendants of John Champney (d. before 1650), a brother of Richard. He came to America at the same time with Richard 1635. His wife was Joanna, and they had three children. She died ca. 1675. Descendants live in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, New Hampshire, Illinois and elsewhere.

William Hannum was born in about 1613 in England. He emigrated in 1630 and settled in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He married Honor Capen in about 1635. They moved to Windsor, Connecticut. They had one son, John, and four daughters. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts, Vermont, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, South Dakota and Kansas.
