Science And Technology In Deep Underground Laboratories
Deep Underground Laboratories are multidisciplinary research infrastructures with a rock overburden that goes from a few hundred meters to a few kilometers. Presently, there are 13 laboratories in operation on three Continents (North America, Europe, Asia, Australia) for a global excavation volume of order 10^6 m3. New laboratories are being constructed/proposed including a new one in South America. Goliarda Sapienza in Context
The present edited collection of essays on the Sicilian author Goliarda Sapienza includes contributions from established and emerging scholars working in the field of contemporary women’s writing. Essays in this volume examine Sapienza through multiple perspectives, taking into account the articulation of subjectivity through autobiographical writing and the complex representation of gender and sexual identities. Also considered here is Sapienza’s oblique position within the Italian literary canon, with contributions moving beyond isolated textual analyses whilst attempting to situate the author’s works within a framework of intertextual and contextual cultural references. Exploring the fertile network of explicit and implicit intersections with Italian and European literature (English and French in particular), as well as with Western philosophical thought in which Sapienza’s texts are embedded, this volume will provide an overdue contribution to the belated appraisal of an author whose due recognition is, in Cesare Garboli’s words, only a matter of time: “Time will work in favour of Goliarda Sapienza’s works. And this is not a wish; it is a certainty.”

Italians to America, October 1901 - March 1902
Italians to America provides both genealogists and researchers of family history with the first extensive, indexed source of Italian surname immigrants. This entire project was planned to span the years 1850 through 1893, but now the series has been extended. The series reproduces information from the original passenger lists filed by all vessels entering U.S. ports from abroad. Ships that departed from Italian ports or carried passengers who declared themselves to be of Italian origin are included, with first and last names, age, sex, occupation, and province and village of origin (whenever available) provided for each emigrant. A complete index of names is included at the end of every volume. Italians to America may be ordered by individual volume. Standing orders, which receive a 10% discount, are also welcomed.
