He perfectly understood the notions of dream and reality, the danger of the voyage in "Nancy Chilshom", the world of the illusions, the lure, madness and strangeness towards the reality of the tragedy, the kingdom of the fairies, death, the finality of art, the supernatural, the Devil and sorcery in Scotland, the Scotland-England couple: the female nation and the male devastator, the carnival of the masks and the reality of his Masonic initiation at the end of his life.

Seit Beginn des Fernsehens sind Magazinsendungen ein fester Bestandteil des Programms. Gegenstand dieses Sammelbandes ist ein bestimmter Typ dieser Fernsehgattung, der vorrangig durch die Unterhaltungsfunktion gekennzeichnet ist. Seine Varianten entstehen durch die Verbindung unterschiedlicher Unterhaltungs-Facetten mit Informations-, Ratgeber- und Bildungselementen. Die Beiträge untersuchen bekannte und repräsentative Beispiele aus der Sicht von Wissenschaftlern,Kritikern und "Machern". Analysiert werden Magazinreihen des öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehens (u. a. "Drehscheibe", "Bitte umblättern", "V.I.P.-Schaukel", "Leo's"), aber auch Sendungen, die im Rahmen des dualen Systems von Privatsendern ausgestrahlt wurden (u. a. "Avanti", "Traugott", "Liebe Sünde" bzw. "Elf99"). Die historisch-typologische Aufarbeitung versteht sich zugleich als Beitrag zur Ästhetik und Theorie der Fernsehgattung "Magazin".
