It is difficult to remember the details of making this book as it is 2 a.m. in the morning. It probably came about at all times of day and night... actually, I'm sure of it. Like most of my books this book is composed of nonrhyming and rhyming poems, lyrical prose and nonlyrical prose, and perhaps an essay or two or at least a poem or two resembling essays. Anyhow, the dark night awaits me and the coffee cup of a new day shall be reached in the morn! And now it is morning after a long night of editing. My book is now available!Love,Damon Freed

This is a self-published book of lyrical prose. It contains fifty lyrical poems and ranges in a broad fashion, yet each poem is autobiographical, in nature.
Slightly off-kilter, raucously rambling through, funny-looking and in the standing tradition of narrative or beat poetry, they come off a little stranger than life, these poems do. We are dangerously curious and caught a little off guard by them as we peruse the author at his best when he infuses fictitious dialogues to key us into his truthful stories. Where does fact and fiction reside in these poems, it is for you to decide!
The Fighter - Artist's Statement I see these works as a metaphor for the Artist in today's times - battling the political, economic, and social worlds of the artist, by himself, in this world! It's a fight, always has been, always will be! In creating the first, "The Hurricane," of the series, I sat in my studio chair wondering what a man's expression would be amidst the pandemic at its height.
