This book constitutes the refereed post proceedings of the 17th Research Conference on Metadata and Semantic Research, MTSR 2023, held in Milan, Italy, during October 25–27, 2023. The 27 papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 75 submissions. These papers are compiled from the following eight tracks of the conference: Digital Libraries, Information Retrieval, Big, Linked, Social, and Open Data; Agriculture, Food, and Environment; Open Repositories, Research Information Systems, and Data Infrastructures; Digital Humanities and Digital Curation; Cultural Collections and Applications; European and National Projects; Knowledge IT Artifacts in Professional Communities and Aggregations; and Metadata, Identifiers, and Semantics in Decentralized Applications, Blockchains, and P2P Systems.
"Potential Theory in Applied Geophysics" introduces the principles of gravitational, magnetic, electrostatic, direct current electrical and electromagnetic fields, with detailed solutions of Laplace and electromagnetic wave equations by the method of separation of variables. Behaviour of the scalar and vector potential and the nature of the solutions of these boundary value problems are shown along with the use of complex variables and conformal transformation, Green's theorem, Green's functions and its use in integral equation. Finite element and finite difference methods for two-dimensional potential problems are discussed in considerable detail. The analytical continuation of the potential field and inverse theory, used for the interpretation of potential field data, are also demonstrated.
The volume contains latest research work presented at International Conference on Computing and Communication Systems (I3CS 2016) held at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, India. The book presents original research results, new ideas and practical development experiences which concentrate on both theory and practices. It includes papers from all areas of information technology, computer science, electronics and communication engineering written by researchers, scientists, engineers and scholar students and experts from India and abroad.
This book gathers high-quality papers presented at International Conference on Web 6.0 and Industry 6.0 (WIN 6.0 2025), organized by the Department of CSE (AIML) and CSBS of the Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata, India, in collaboration with Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK. This book covers almost all aspects of modern web technology and industry to explore the future landscape of connectivity, innovation and applications. The book contains three sections: industry 6.0, web 6.0, and socio-technical 6.0.
In September 1600, Queen Elizabeth and London are made to believe that the East India Company will change England's fortunes forever. With William Shakespeare's death, the heart of Albion starts throbbing with four centuries of an extraordinary Indian settlement that Arup K. Chatterjee christens as Typogravia. In five acts that follow, we are taken past the churches destroyed by the fire of Pudding Lane; the late eighteenth-century curry houses in Mayfair and Marylebone; and the coming of Indian lascars, ayahs, delegates, students and lawyers in London. From the baptism of Peter Pope (in the year Shakespeare died) to the death of Catherine of Bengal; the chronicles of Joseph Emin, Abu Taleb ...
This book offers the first social history of music in undivided Punjab (1800-1947), unearthing new evidence to argue for the power of female performers and the primacy of classical music for a region conventionally understood as a centre of folk music alone.
The Routledge Companion to Northeast India is a trans-disciplinary and comprehensive compendium of a vital yet under-researched region in South Asia. It provides a unique guide to prevailing themes, theories, arguments, and history of Northeast India by discussing its life-forms – human and not – languages, landscapes, and lifeways in all its diversity and difference. The companion contains authoritative entries from leading specialists from and on the region and offers clear, concise, and illuminating explanations of key themes and ideas. A hands-on, practical, and comprehensive guide to Northeast India, this companion fills a significant gap in the literature and will be an invaluable teaching, learning, and research resource for scholars and students of Northeast India Studies, South Asian and Southeast Asian societies, culture, politics, humanities, and the social sciences in general.

Women’s lives in India have evolved significantly in the past few decades, particularly in the realms of health, education, economic security, and social standing – including media representation. The change is perceptible not only materially but also perceptually. Yet, at the cusp of India’s eightieth year of Independence, the stories, or lack thereof, about the lives of women in the country don’t cease to astound.Women in India: Exploring Work, Life, and Freedom critically traces the trajectory of these changes while also revealing the persistent blind spots and prejudices within systems that continue to scaffold their subordination and marginalisation. The book interrogates the ex...
