Die Oama-Bauern und ihre Familien
Seit 1648 lebt die Familie Weixelgartner auf dem Oama-Hof. Oama bedeutet so viel wie frei. Sie waren also freie Bauern, keine Leibeigenen. Gerhard Schmidberger geht in seiner ersten Veröffentlichung dem Leben der eigenen Vorfahren und jenen seiner Frau auf den Grund und erforscht dabei, was sie möglicherweise erduldet und erlebt haben. Ein wichtiges Anliegen ist ihm, darzustellen, wie die einfache, bäuerliche Bevölkerung unter den vielen Kriegen, die die Adligen veranlasst haben, leiden musste, wie die kleinen Bauern verheizt wurden für Kriege, von denen sie oft kaum verstanden hatten, wofür sie geführt wurden. Dies soll kein Tatsachenbericht sein, sondern eine Darstellung der Begebenheiten, wie er sich vorstellt, dass sie vor langer Zeit gewesen sein könnten.
