Philology Matters!
This book is about philology and its relevance over time. The compilation foregrounds a multi-faceted field of research that has dealt with the relationship between language, literature and culture for over 2,000 years. The main thread of this volume, comprising ten scholarly essays, is to show that philology as an academic field and a scholarly perspective―understood in its widest sense as the profound understanding of language, literature and culture―does matter in the twenty-first century, that is to say, in our own time characterized by globalization and digitalization. King Arthur in the Medieval Low Countries
The Arthurian myth is one of the most fundamental and abiding ones of Western culture. The legend of King Arthur and his knights was no less popular in the medieval Low Countries than it was anywhere else in medieval Europe. People and Texts: Relationships in Medieval Literature
Relationships between people and texts form the focus of the studies collected in this book. It was presented to Erik Kooper in recognition of his lifelong efforts to bring together people from universities worldwide. Papers of Keith Busby and Hazel Busby
This collection comprises newspaper articles, reports, publications, correspondence, research and notes relating to Hazel Busby's appeal for workers' compensation for the 1971 death of her husband, Keith Busby. Keith Busby was a RAAF pilot who was exposed to the radioactive area of Maralinga after the Buffalo 1 atomic test in the 1950s.
The Old French Fabliaux
Concise accounts of editions and studies of the Old French fabliaux. The Old French fabliaux form a corpus of over 120 short comic verse narratives from the late twelfth to the early fourteenth centuries which has been the subject of very active work over the last thirty years, building on continuous though less intensive interest over the previous century. There are many editions, a society and a journal devoted to fabliaux study but, until now, no bibliographical survey. The author of this analytical bibliography takes a wide view of the definition of the genre in French but does not include work primarily on Chaucerian fabliaux or those in other languages. Around 1,000 entries offer precise, well judged and well written accounts of workspublished in this area of study.
