Wild crop relatives are now playing a significant part in the elucidation and improvement of the genomes of their cultivated counterparts. This work includes comprehensive examinations of the status, origin, distribution, morphology, cytology, genetic diversity and available genetic and genomic resources of numerous wild crop relatives, as well as of their evolution and phylogenetic relationship. Further topics include their role as model plants, genetic erosion and conservation efforts, and their domestication for the purposes of bioenergy, phytomedicines, nutraceuticals and phytoremediation. Global food policy report 2025: Food policy: Lessons and priorities for a changing world
Over the past 50 years, the world’s food systems have evolved tremendously amid major economic, environmental, and social changes. Throughout this period, policy research has played a critical role in providing evidence and analysis to inform decision-making that supports agricultural growth, better livelihoods, and improved food security, nutrition, and well-being for all. As a special edition marking the Institute’s 50th anniversary, the 2025 Global Food Policy Report examines the evolution and impact of food policy research and assesses how it can better equip policymakers to meet future challenges and opportunities. The report’s thematic and regional chapters, written by leading IFPRI researchers and colleagues, explore the broad range of issues and showcase research related to food systems, from tenure and agriculture extension to social protection, gender, and nutrition to conflict, political economy, and agricultural innovation, and more. As we approach 2050, policy research and analysis will be essential to help end poverty and malnutrition by building sustainable healthy food systems.
Finishing Global Farm Trade Reform:
This study reviews policy developments in recent years and, in the light of that, explores ways in which further consensus might be reached among WTO members to reduce farm trade distortions – and thereby also progress the multilateral trade reform agenda. Particular attention is given to ways that would boost well-being in developing countries, especially for those food-insecure households still suffering from poverty and hunger.

Science and Innovations for Food Systems Transformation
This Open Access book compiles the findings of the Scientific Group of the United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021 and its research partners. The Scientific Group was an independent group of 28 food systems scientists from all over the world with a mandate from the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. The chapters provide science- and research-based, state-of-the-art, solution-oriented knowledge and evidence to inform the transformation of contemporary food systems in order to achieve more sustainable, equitable and resilient systems.

Bioactive Compounds in Edible Flowers
Many societies have found various utilities of edible flowers. They give a more ornamental look, enhances the taste, and also enhances its nutritional value. Numerous studies conducted recently have shown that edible flowers are also rich in nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, fibre, vitamins, minerals. These flowers also contain a variety of phytochemicals, including phenolics, flavonoids, carotenoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, and other compounds that have been shown to increase biological activities, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial and antidiabetic, anticancer, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, and neuroprotective qualities. Edible flowers have now found their way into a number of industries, including as cosmeceuticals, functional foods, and nutraceuticals. The book provides information on the nutritional value, phytochemical makeup, and bioactivity of both wild and cultivated flowers. It also describes edible flowers in depth to make them better-known to consumers and the food business. Each chapter discusses the possible toxicological effects of floral components.
