Following years of research, the first bored tunnel in soft soil in the Netherlands, the Tweede Heinenoord tunnel, was completed in 1998. Across the North Sea
Daily life in the early modern North Sea region was largely subject to international forces such as wars, trade and changing religion. Consequently, many people from the North Sea region emigrated to the Dutch Republic.
