This publication in four volumes has been made in the context of the International Architecture Competition "Ephemeral Structures in the city of Athens", organised by the Cultural Olympiad 2001-2004, under the auspices of the UIA (International Union of Architects) and supported by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. The competition also became known as the D.O.E.S. (Design of Ephemeral Structures) competition, for the use of the word "does" underscores and reverberates the wish to make things happen. The four volumes follow the various stages of the competition and marks the events organised in its context : book I : annunciation - a re-edition of the competition programme; book II : hermeneutics - texts perpared by the members of the competition's technical committee after their first encounter with the 470 competition entries; book III : revelation - the catalogue of the exhibition, the identity of all participants and projects revealed; book IV : judgement - the adjudication process, texts by jurors and awards.
