Grounding Digitalization
Digitalization is usually perceived as an invisible process and its cultural embeddedness as well as its material, spatial, and environmental grounding are often neglected. However, digital technologies and transformations are shaped not only by cultural values, practices, and imaginaries, but also by network infrastructures and spatial orders. They consume environmental resources and cause high carbon dioxide emissions and electronic waste. At the same time, these materialities intervene in spaces, thereby reconfiguring socio-spatial arrangements. The contributors to this volume analyze digitalization from a »grounding« perspective that explores involved cultural practices, technologies, materialities, and spaces.

Urban Landscapes in High-Density Cities
The positive effects of urban green spaces are well-known, ranging from the promotion of health, support of biodiversity to climate regulation. However, the practical implementation of urban landscapes is less discussed. How can we make these spaces functional, economically feasible and inclusive, especially as cities become more diverse? The publication explores strategies to reconcile the various demands, such as food production, resilience and nature conservation. Indeed, urban landscapes have to be restorative, ecological and aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Art in Urban Space
This collection grew out of the international conference entitled “Arts and the City” hosted by Károli Gáspár University and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2019. With speakers from across the world, this scholarly event reflected the diversity and deeply interdisciplinary character of contemporary urban studies and its relation to inclusive artistic practices. Thus, this book offers global academic perspectives on the function, relevance and social embeddedness of art in selected European and North-American cities and, as occasional detours, in other parts of the world. The three main sections of the book are entitled “Public Art Considerations”, “War, Travel and Resistance”, and “London: Word, Action and Image”.
